Data collection when visiting and using this website

Logfiles

This website temporarily logs certain information each time you visit our website or any files offered (log files).

Regarding personal data and any other data you insert to the extent you decide, Article 6 paragraph 1 lit. a GDPR serves as legal basis.


SSL encryption

In order to protect your transmitted data in the best possible way, we use SSL encryption. You can recognize encrypted connections by the prefix https:// in the URL of the website called up in your browser. (Unencrypted pages are marked by "http://".) SSL encryption ensures that all data that you transmit to this website - such as inquiries or logins - cannot be read by third parties.


H5P-Plugin

This website uses an H5P plugin from https://h5p.org/, with servers in Norway. H5P is a free and open source software for creating interactive learning content for the Internet using videos or presentations with various embedded quizzes and memory tasks. H5P will store data about our users’ interactions on our host system. For each interaction that you complete, H5P may store your user’s account identification on our host system, the start time, the finish time, the score that was achieved, and the maximum score possible.

Legal basis for the data processing in the context of using H5P is Article 6 paragraph 1 lit. f EU GDPR. Legal grounds for using them is to provide appealing interactive learning content on this website. It is in our legitimate interest to process these data to learn about our users, which may in turn help you to improve your learning outcome.

Embedded videos and audio files

In order to embed self-produced videos and audio files into our website we use the services provided by the platform Podcampus.de. Podcampus is operated by Multimedia Kontor Hamburg gGmbh, Saarlandstr. 30, 22303 Hamburg.

When you click on a video or audio file (this applies to videos and audio files produced by third parties, too), your IP address, the site from which you access it, the date, time, the operating system and the browser you used are automatically stored in the log files created by the server. This is necessary in order to display the content.

The processing of the information stored in the log files is only anonymous for statistical purposes (such as to analyse the use of which pages are accessed, which browsers are used, etc.), so that the services can be improved, protected and developed further. Podcampus saves your IP address anonymously; they do not log the last three digits.

Data processing with regard to the integration of content is legally based on Article 6 paragraph 1 lit. a GDPR. Our legitimate interest is to make this website more interesting and educational through different media formats.


Matomo analytics service

Our website uses the Matomo, an Open Source web analytics service. Matomo uses so-called cookies. Cookies are small text files that are stored on your computer and allow us to analyse the usage of our website. For this purpose, the usage information generated by the cookie (including your truncated IP address) is transmitted to our server and stored for usage analysis purposes, which in turn serves to optimize our website and to make a scientific evaluation of the usage. Your IP address is immediately anonymized during this process so that you as a user remain anonymous to us. The information generated by the cookie about your usage of this website remains on HAW Hamburg servers and will not be disclosed to third parties.
